Drywood termites are prevalent in all the area served by Thrasher Termite: Santa Clara County, Southern San Mateo County, and Fremont. Drywood termites live deep inside wood and are rarely visible. Roughly twice per year, drywood termites swarm looking for a new place to call home. Because of the difficulty in detecting drywood termites and determining the extent of the damage done, do-it-yourself treatments are not recommended.
Termite colonies are made up of a queen, soldiers and workers. The termite queen is tended to and the colony is built and maintained by the soldiers and workers. Drywood termites prefer temperatures above 120 F which makes attics most susceptible to infestation.
The presence of drywood termites is often identified by fecal pellets and the damage they leave behind.
