$2.45 million settlement was approved by the court in a four-year-old class-action lawsuit brought by elderly and disabled bedbug-bitten residents of two downtown Des Moines apartment buildings.

A Maryland landlord was ordered to pay a former tenant $800,000 after the tenant filed a lawsuit claiming the landlord failed to address a bedbug infestation that caused her to lose “practically everything.”

A landlord who allegedly ignored a bedbug infestation at his Concord, California apartment building turned himself into police after the court issued a warrant for his arrest. Bail was set at $10,000.

A lawsuit filed by a dozen Santa Barbara, California, residents alleges breach of rental agreement and asserts that apartments’ conditions threaten their health. The lawsuit claims that the landlord has done nothing, despite numerous complaints from the residents, being sued and fined by the City of Santa Barbara, and even put in jail for not maintaining his properties.
