Carpenter bees are huge! While somewhat frightening because of their size, they are very docile. These are solitary bees; each female must create a nest for herself. These nests are usually in old trees or stumps, but sometimes your house becomes a favored place. Carpenter bees don’t eat wood, but do chew nesting holes. These holes may look like someone took a half inch drill to wood eves, rafters, or siding. Because carpenter bees are picky about their nesting places, they may never pose a problem to your house and you can enjoy these gentle giants in your garden. If you do see perfectly round holes in the wood of your house, call Thrasher Termite & Pest Control for an evaluation. We’ll identify the source of the problem and recommend a remedy.
